In 2003, we started our journey to establish a sustainable, integrated living environment for our family here on the West Coast of British Columbia, Canada.
Inspired by ideas rooted in organic farming, permaculture design, Baubiology and Buddhist philosophy we developed our grand vision.
Working with nature, we want to establish a system that provides shelter, food, water, fuel and building materials while at the same time enriching the biodiversity and health of the local eco-system, providing an abundance of resources for generations to come. |

Our guiding principles can be summarized as:
- Reduce the dependency on fossil fuels and non-local resources
- Combine ancient traditions and sustainable practices with modern insights and technologies
- Choose manual tools and natural methods over powered machines whenever possible
- Create a model for 21st century rural living
- Be mindful. The journey is the goal. This is an ongoing, continuous, never ending process
We are currently in Phase I of the project, which involves building a healthy, sustainable house.
An integral part of our philosophy is to share what we have learned with others. With that in mind, we have created a video (DVD) that takes you on a tour of our house and its various life support systems. What you see and learn in this video is the accumulation of more then 5 years of research into healthy, sustainable, off-grid living.
We are now starting to move into Phase II, which is the establishment of a Permaculture garden. We will of course capture our experiences and knowledge on that part of the project on DVD in the near future.
